About Payer Reference Desk

Last updated: November 2026By Payer Reference Desk Editorial TeamIndependent guide

Payer Reference Desk is a small, independent reference site for one question that billers, front-desk staff and patients search for every day: the Allied Benefit Systems payer ID, and what goes with it. That includes where paper claims go, which clearinghouses list the ID, how to check eligibility, and how filing deadlines work.

Who runs this site

The site is written and maintained by the Payer Reference Desk Editorial Team. We are a small editorial operation with no connection to any insurer, third-party administrator, clearinghouse or billing company. We do not sell billing services, and we do not take payment from any organization named on the site.

Independence statement

Independent guide

Independent guide. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Allied Benefit Systems. Allied Benefit Systems and Allstate Benefits are names of their respective owners, used here only to identify the organizations the guide describes. For official, current information, use alliedbenefit.com and the member's ID card.

This site does not offer a login, a member lookup, a claim submission form or any other tool that handles patient or provider data. If a page claiming to be ours asks for credentials or health information, it is not ours.

How facts are checked

  1. Official first. We start with Allied's own provider pages, contact page and published PDF forms, such as the claim forms and the fax cover sheet.
  2. Two sources minimum. Every payer ID, address and phone number is checked against at least one more independent source, such as Optum's published payer lists, Stedi's payer network, Claim.MD or a gateway payer guide.
  3. No guessing. If we cannot confirm a value, we leave it out or say plainly that it varies. Timely filing limits are an example. We do not publish a single number, because Allied's forms say the limit comes from each plan's documents.
  4. Conflicts disclosed. When sources disagree, such as an old Chicago P.O. Box on a third-party list, we name the conflict and say which source we follow.
  5. Dated. Each page shows when it was last reviewed. The figures on this site were checked on November 3, 2026.

Editorial policy

  • We write original explanations, tables and checklists. We do not republish other sites' text.
  • We do not invent people, reviews, testimonials or statistics.
  • We link to the primary source for each key fact, listed under "Sources" on each page.
  • Industry practice is labeled as industry practice, such as X12 frequency codes, and is kept separate from Allied-specific rules.
  • Advertising, if shown in the future, will never change what we write or which sources we cite.
