Submitting Electronic Claims to Allied Benefit Systems (837P and 837I)

Last updated: November 2026By Payer Reference Desk Editorial TeamIndependent guide

Allied Benefit Systems takes electronic claims through clearinghouses using payer ID 37308. Allstate Benefits plans use 75068. This guide covers the setup steps, the loops and fields where payer errors usually start, and how to get remittances and claim status back.

What transactions are supported

Allied's provider page says electronic claims go to Allied through a clearinghouse. It does not name a preferred one. Public payer lists show what the main networks support for 37308:

Support can differ between clearinghouses and can change. Before you rely on a transaction, check it in your own clearinghouse's payer list.

Setting up Allied in your clearinghouse

  1. Search the payer list by ID. Search for 37308 rather than the name. Clearinghouses label Allied in different ways, and similarly named payers such as Allied National or Allied Physicians are different organizations.
  2. Read the enrollment flags. Some lists mark claims, ERA or eligibility as needing enrollment. Optum's ERA list marks Allied as enrollment required. Experian Health flags its batch claim status listing as needing extra enrollment information.
  3. Map the payer in your practice-management system. Create or update the insurance company record with payer ID 37308, and a second record for 75068 if you see Allstate Benefits patients. Keeping them separate stops claims drifting to the wrong ID.
  4. Send a test or a small first batch. Check the 999 and 277CA acknowledgments before you release a full batch.
  5. Enroll for ERA and EFT if you want electronic remittances. This usually takes longer than claim setup, so start it early.

Fields where payer errors start

Most payer rejections for a TPA like Allied come from a short list of fields. Here is where to look in the 837 (version 005010):

Loop 2010BB NM1*PR
Payer name and payer ID (NM109). This must be 37308 or 75068, matching the card. Your clearinghouse usually fills it from the payer you picked.
Loop 2010BA NM1*IL
Subscriber name and member ID, copied exactly from the card. The subscriber is usually the employee, not the patient.
Loop 2000B SBR
Payer responsibility sequence (P, S, T) and group number (SBR03). Group number errors are common because the same employer can have several groups.
Loop 2000C / 2010CA
Patient loop when the patient is a dependent. The relationship code must match what Allied has on file.
CLM05-3
Claim frequency code: 1 for original, 7 for replacement, 8 for void. Codes 7 and 8 need the payer's original claim number in REF*F8.
Loop 2320 / 2330B
Other-payer information when Allied is secondary, including the primary payer's paid amount and adjustments.

Clearinghouse alerts

Payer pages sometimes carry temporary notices. When we checked, Claim.MD's Allied page showed an undated message that an event at the payer's EDI vendor had stopped professional claims from being received. Notices like this come and go. If a batch is stuck, read your clearinghouse's payer alerts before you resubmit.

After submission: status and remittance

Once a claim is accepted, you can follow it three ways. You can send a 276 claim status request through your clearinghouse. You can look it up in Allied's Provider FastTrack, which needs no login. Or you can check the Provider Portal if your office has registered. Once ERA enrollment is approved, 835 files post payments and adjustment reason codes into your system. If you have no ERA, use the paper EOB or the portal to post payments.

A clean claim starts with clean eligibility. The eligibility and benefits verification guide covers the checks to run before billing. If a claim needs fixing later, see the timely filing, corrected claims and appeals guide. For paper fallbacks, see the claims mailing address guide.
